What started out as a stone lithography business in 1860 by Richard Thalman in Chicago and Thalmann Printing Ink in St. Louis by Bernhard Thalmann., began a 147-year commitment by the Thalman family to the decorative arts. This included custom wrought iron work, antique restoration, painting and decorative finishing, to name a few.
Three generations later, Bruce Thalman continues the family trade with Thalman Designs. For the past 25 years, Bruce has been providing superior quality painting and decorative finishing to hundreds of residential and commercial clients throughout the United States.
Bruce is one of only a few decorative artists in the United States to offer this service, at this quality.
From hand ground pigments from London, to Venetian plasters from Italy, and the finest wood graining from Paris, Bruce turns any space large or small into the most amazing visual experience.
Bruce’s training includes touring the finest cities in the world to meet other artists to learn how to continue bringing authentic finishes from the world to his clients’ home and work environments.
Bruce’s professional training includes attending the Chicago Institute of Decorative Finishing, North American School of Decorative Arts, and The Finishing School of New York.
